亨利开始下滑。夏洛特跟在后面。
刘俊豪的速度越来越快。他呼吸急促。前方是一个陡坡。
刘俊豪：妈呀！
刘俊豪两腿一歪，摔倒下去，人和滑雪板一起往下滚。
亨利从陡坡上跃下而去。
夏洛特加速滑到刘俊豪身边，突然将滑雪板一横，自己侧身卧倒在雪地上，同时伸手去抓刘俊豪的衣服。夏洛特抓住刘俊豪，两人躺在雪道上向下滑，夏洛特的滑雪鞋在山坡雪地刮起片片雪浪。终于，两人慢慢停了下来。
夏洛特：are you okay (你没事吧？)
刘俊豪喘气：thank you so mubsp;i don’t know i am okay or not, but i know i am not injured. (太谢谢你了！我不知道是不是有事，但我知道我没有受伤。)
夏洛特牵着刘俊豪的一只手：good. stand up slowly with your skis perpendibsp;to the course way. that’s right. (好。慢慢站起来，让滑雪板垂直滑雪道。就这样。)
刘俊豪感激地看了一眼夏洛特的脸。
……火车上。刘俊豪看着夏洛特的脸。
刘俊豪惊喜：it’s you who saved my life on top of grouse mountain st winter! (去年冬天在格劳斯山顶上，是你救了我的命！)
夏洛特笑：are you kidding me yes, i saved somebody st winter. are you sure it was you (你开玩笑吧？去年冬天我是救了一个人。但你敢肯定那是你？)
刘俊豪：yes, yes, it was me. thank you so mubsp;if i have opportunity, i would return your kindness. (对对，是我。太谢谢你了！如果有机会，我一定会报答你的。)
夏洛特：now, you are helping me. (你现在就在帮助我。)
一名男列车员走来，向他们微笑。
列车员：hi! how are you doing (喂，你们好吗？)
夏洛特：good. thank you. how about you (好，谢谢，你好啊！)
列车员：thank you. may i see you tickets (谢谢！我能看一下你们的票吗？)
夏洛特：we’ve just gotten on board at whistler. how mubsp;for two tickets to quesnel (我们刚从威斯勒上车。两张到魁奈尔的票要多少钱？)
列车员在他的电子售票机上按键：okay. two tickets from whistler to quesnel, plus tax, totally 162 dolrs. (好，两张从威斯勒到魁奈尔的票，加上税，一共是162元。)
夏洛特从牛仔裤口袋掏出钱来，交给列车员。列车员接过钱收好，将两张票递给夏洛特。
列车员：thank you. are you from vancouver (谢谢！你们是温哥华人吧？)
夏洛特抬起头，莫名其妙地望着列车员：why do you want to know (你为什么想知道？)
列车员忙陪笑：sorry. i am just curious. wish you a nibsp;trip. see you. (对不起，我只是好奇。祝你们旅途愉快。再见。)
列车员不再检查其他旅客的车票，大步离去。夏洛特皱着眉头望着列车员的背影。
刘俊豪：anything wrong (有什么不对劲吗？)
夏洛特：you stay here. (你在这里别动。)(起身，远远跟在列车员身后离去。)
第8章 第8集 体育之都的遗憾the tour capital
魁奈尔镇(quesnel)。菲沙河(fraser river)与魁奈尔河(quesnel river)汇流口，菲沙河上的墨发大桥(moffat bridge)，写有“quesnel, gold pan city”(魁奈尔――金盘市)的蓝色大盘，哈德森湾商店(hudson bay store)，柯尼诗水车(ish water wheel)，水边公园(riverfront park)，等。
18世纪60年代，这个小镇是淘金者沿菲沙河北上淘金的必经之地。
数辆警车从墨发大桥呼啸而过。
警车内。
警官甲：thank you for your information, sir. we are heading for quesnel train station. do you have a picture of the suspebsp;… no …no, don’t do that. just feel like nothing happens. okay … we bsp;tabsp;vancouver rbsp;and they will send us a picture. how long will you arrive … three hours good. driving into the station and stop the train but don’t open the door until we get on and find the suspects. thank you. bye. 火车上。夏洛特急匆匆走回座位，在刘俊豪身边坐下，神色紧张。两人小声说话。
刘俊豪：what’s wrong (怎么了？)
夏洛特：we need to get off before the train arrive at quesnel. (我们必须在到达魁奈尔之前下车。)
刘俊豪：how is there a stop before quesnel (怎么下？在魁奈尔之前还有站吗？)
夏洛特：no. (没有。)
隔壁座位有一个白人老头在用手机打电话，不久打完，收起电话。
夏洛特拿出手机，假装拨号，放到耳朵听，接着重重地关上电话，小声地咒骂(无配音)。
夏洛特对白人老头：excuse me, sir. (对不起，先生。)
老头微笑：what bsp;i help you (要帮忙吗？)
夏洛特：you are so kind, sir. my brother got sibsp;and is in hospital. i want to know his situation. but, uh, my cell phone has no battery. (你心真好，先生。我哥哥受伤在医院里。我想知道他的情况。但是，我的手机没电池了。)
